Apple is giving free repair service to fix sound issue on some iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices – Tech Deals
Apple has announced a free service program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users. As part of the program, the iPhone maker will fix sound issues on both these devices. Some Apple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users are suffering from an issue that is affecting their phones’ speakers. It must be noted that not all iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices are affected by the problem. Only a ‘very small percentage’ of users are affected and include those manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021 are facing the issue.
“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module….If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls, it may be eligible for service”, Apple says.
Affected device owners can visit Apple stores or an Apple Authorised service provider. The service will be free of cost and Apple will not charge any fee for the repair.
Do note that iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max models are not part of this program. The program only covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
In case your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, Apple says that the issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. There may be a cost associated with the additional repair.
